I think most of the people I cared about in this game are now in NATO so this is the best place do this. I am the Artist Formerly Known as
Duncan King and, depending on your point of view, either made your time in the game more enjoyable or drove you crazy. If you've never heard of me, that's probably best. Means I successfully quit.
The holidays came around so I figured now would be a good time to stop by and say, "Hi." I hope you all are doing well both in real life and in the game. I know when friends of mine quit the game, I appreciated them stopping in and saying hello.
Since I quit in June, I have quit my long lamented job at Target, picked up a freelance writing gig, and unsuccessfully applied to about 1000 legal jobs. I got a provisional offer the week of Christmas and if all goes well, I start next week. It's a bit up in the air as I don't actually know when or where I'll be working.
I don't check these forums that often but I'll monitor this thread and my email for a bit if anyone wants to catch up.
Tata for now,
The artist formerly known as Duncan King
Hi DK! Glad to hear things are going well!
Happier New Year!
Hey TK!
Did you see who stars in that CBS Sherlock Holmes series? I tried to watch it because I really like Jonny Lee Miller but the show is just depressing. Plus, it was on CBS, so that made it doomed. I also kept hearing George Michael while watching it which, considering it's a crime drama, is not appropriate.
Have you been successful in procuring gainful employment? I have a legal freelance writing gig and volunteer to help tenants resolve issues with their landlords, but no regular employment yet. I was about to pack it up and move to some place else just to have better luck when I got the offer. I've been turned down so many times that I don't even want to talk about it in CN in case it doesn't pan out.
No, it was either this or one the the diplomat introductions forums to post in.
Ok. I'll give you a diplomat mask.
Hi DK. Long time no see! Great to hear from my old mentor
Congrats on finishing your studies. I hope that this new potential job pans out for you.
Good to see you around. Good luck with the job prospect! Much snow so far?
Enjoy 2013!...
Actually, there hasn't been much snow. We got a foot in December and haven't gotten any more since then. I've made good use of it though, I try to cross country ski as much as I can but it's getting to where it's so dry that you can't do much with it.
I officially started the job today so I don't feel odd announcing it. I got a job working for Habitat for Humanity interviewing people who area seeking help from the organization's mortgage foreclosure prevention program. Someone is actually going to pay me for my time.

Hey DK!
Yeah, I've watched a bit of Elementary and it's been okay. It certainly can't compare to Sherlock or even Eli Stone. LOL, I've been wondering if anyone else heard George Michael while watching that show...I was watching Aeon Flux the other night and realized that Jonny Lee Miller actually had a pretty big role in it! Wow, never realized it
I'm still working as an administrator at the family nursing home. I can't say it hasn't been rough during the recession but things have turned around with some tweaks. We've managed to quadruple our resident numbers and have had an even bigger growth with our monthly income. It's actually gotten to the point that we have a waiting list and our biggest problem is now adequate staffing >.>
I can safely say that I'm comfortable leaving the daily care of the facility to someone else and move on to some other things...
Hey DK! I've heard great things about you.
How are you, DK?

I'm only staying where I am long enough to be able to leave the job without looking flakey. It's at Habitat for Humanity, which is really cool, but it's basically a receptionist position that I'm extremely overqualified for and that is slowly wearing me out. I'm eligible for a transfer in five months, not that I'm counting (I am).

I am great. I am finally getting to a point where I can do some of the things that I did as Duncan King in my personal and professional life. Since the character was always a reflection of the kind of person that I'd like to be when I grew up, it's really cool.
Uhh...not sure why you registered a new account. You can have your old one back and we can change the name if you need to.
